About the Founder
Luqman Ahmad
Luqman Ahmad is the Founder of Basirat Advisory, advising investors and corporates on growth, risk, and execution in complex and high-stakes markets.
With over 25 years of experience as both an advisor and operator, Luqman has led businesses and programmes across more than 40 countries, including extensive time living and working in Africa and other fragile and conflict-affected environments. He has operated at the front line of complex markets—overseeing delivery, managing risk, and ensuring compliance in jurisdictions where political, regulatory, and operational challenges are material to investment outcomes.
Luqman brings deep expertise in mining and extractives across Africa and Asia, including advising on the design and reform of policies, laws, and regulatory frameworks that shape investment conditions. This work gives him a practical understanding of how governments think, how regulatory risk evolves, and how it impacts commercial decision-making.
As a former Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of global consulting firms, he has led profitable growing businesses, delivered turnarounds, and built resilient operating models across high-risk environments.
He is particularly valued for his ability to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes—working with governments, investors, and private sector leaders—and for his strong networks across both public and private sectors in emerging markets.
